The Sticky Art of Snorkelling

Following on from last week, today's post features more snorkelers but this time they're all on postage stamps.

This 1965 stamp from French Polynesia marks the World Spearfishing Championship.

The design of this stamp originally dates from 1967 but this particular example is from 1969 when it was overprinted in preparation for the switch to decimal currency. It was reissued in 1971 with the new price.

In 1971 it was Chile's turn to host the World Spearfishing Championship.

This 1980 New Zealand stamp appears to be promoting health, although presumably not that of the poor fish about to be speared!
